The PS Plus games catalog continues to gain momentum as some high-profile PS5 games hit the service next week.
It’s a stellar month for PS5 for sure, as a total of 24 games will be available to users on May 16 at the standard PS Plus subscription price. There are some real gems here, including some of the best PS5 games like Rachet and Clank: Split AND Guard dogs: Legion.
Where to start Rachet and Clank: Split? The latest installment of the popular tongue-in-cheek action platformer takes advantage of the PS5’s power with non-existent loading times and stunning graphics behind the hilarious scenery and quirky adventure. It’s one of the rare console-exclusive own games, and there’s no PS4 version, so now’s the best time to see what all the hype is about if you missed it in 2021.
Watchdogs has always been a divisive franchise. The hacker-centric open world takes another wildly new direction in the third installment of the series, taking you from the rainy and windy streets of Chicago to the scorching beaches of San Francisco and now to London, UK. It’s a bold change, but not as big as the changes to the core gameplay loop Guard dogs: Legion, which includes recruiting NPC civilians as playable characters to build a resistance army instead of a permanent hero like Aiden Pearce or Marcus Holloway.
Of course, there’s a lot more coming to PS Plus than just these PS5 games. Arkane fans can wash away the bad taste redfall from paragraph Disgraced 2 AND Dishonored: Death of an Outsider. Immersive, endlessly replayable simulations feature some of the best level design, character design, and combat in modern games.
For a full list of titles coming to rival Xbox Game Pass, you can check out the latest PlayStation blog post. In the past, I’ve argued that roughly a year after the PS Plus reboot, it’s finally giving Xbox Game Pass a run for its money. If Sony can keep ahead by bringing excellent games and big releases to its subscription service, Microsoft will have a really hard time keeping up. Other notable releases this month include the latest Tomb Raider trilogy, Inner Evil 2AND Humanity; truly a winning month if I’ve ever seen one that should keep us in the game for a while!
